OKLAHOMA CITY —Gov. Mary Fallin announced Friday that she has issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency for seven northeastern Oklahoma counties that were impacted by Wednesday’s tornadoes and severe storms.
The state of emergency was declared for Craig, Mayes, Nowata, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington counties.
The storms caused damage to homes and businesses, and two EF2 tornadoes were recorded in the Tulsa area. Seven people were injured because of one of the tornadoes.
State agencies can make emergency purchases and acquisitions needed to speed up the delivery of resources to the affected areas.
The executive order will be in effect for 30 days but could be amended to include additional counties, if needed.
