NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The National Weather Service (NWS) said Friday that two weak tornadoes touched down in Tennessee on Thursday during strong storms.
An EF1 tornado hit eastern Perry County about 7 miles southeast of Linden, and an EF0 tornado in northwest Lewis County about 4 miles northwest of Hohenwald.
Further details about the tornadoes will be released at a later time.
They came as a wave of severe weather pushed through the state from west to east, bringing with it damaging winds, heavy rain, isolated flooding and even some hail.
The scattered storms began developing during the late afternoon hours as the atmosphere turned unstable.
Shortly after the storms passed, a double rainbow was spotted in many areas.
Expect dry weather from midday Friday through the weekend. Highs will be in the 60s with overnight lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
Low 70s are back to start next week. Showers hold off until late Monday or Tuesday.
