NORMAN, Okla. (KOKH) — Three tornadoes touched down in southwestern Oklahoma Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Two were rated EF-1, a third was rated EF-0.
The first touched down at 3:29 p.m. two miles northwest of Elgin and moved northeast. It damaged roofs and windows to a few homes in that area, while knocking down power lines. A mobile home was destroyed as well before the storm lifted near Fletcher.
Winds topped 95-100 miles per hour while it was on the ground for about five miles. It lifted around 3:40 p.m.
The same storm continued northeast, producing another tornado near Cyril in Caddo County around 3:54 p.m.
Light damage was reported near the H.E. Bailey Turnpike. That storm was rated an EF-0, with winds between 65-70 miles per hour and was on the ground for a half mile.
An EF-1 tornado then touched down, starting eight miles south and west of Ninnekah in Grady County.
That storm was on the ground for twelve miles, producing winds between 105-110 miles per hour.
One house had windows blown out and an outbuilding was destroyed as the storm moved along Highway 81, surveyors said.
