FAYETTE COUNTY (KDKA) — The National Weather Service confirmed that a weak tornado moved through parts of Fayette County during Thursday’s storms.
According to the NWS, the EF-0 tornado moved through Dunbar Township around 4:42 p.m. Thursday, reaching a maximum wind speed of 70 m.p.h. with a maximum path width of 200 yards. They say the path length was less than one mile.
More than 80 trees were downed or uprooted, and two trees fell onto a house on Ladys Lane. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
The NWS says it has been almost eight years since a tornado last hit Fayette County.
Another weak tornado was also confirmed in Monongalia County in northern West Virginia around the same time as the one in Dunbar Township.
