Tuesday’s thunderstorm through South Jersey brought down thick hail, torrential rain and wind gusts of up to 80 mph.

In its wake, the storm left countless downed trees and power lines.

Atlantic City Electric was reporting more than 32,000 customers, mostly in Cape May County, without power at 6:30 p.m.

While the region had been under a tornado warning, and some social media used said they believed they may have seen a tornado, there had not been a confirmed tornado report by early Tuesday evening. The National Weather Service was investigating reports.

Even without a tornado, New Jersey 101.5 meteorologist Dan Zarrow says, the reported 80 mph gusts that were enough to cause much of the damage seen in the image
