Dark clouds, rain, hail and two tornadoes were spotted in southern Manitoba as a storm system crossed through the province on Wednesday.
Environment Canada ended the tornado warnings in Manitoba but as of 4:48 a.m. CT Thursday, severe thunderstorm warnings remained in place in the regional municipality of Fisher, as well as the Jackhead, Peguis and Fisher River reserves.
Two tornadoes and one funnel cloud were spotted in southern Manitoba in the evening, Environment Canada said.
A brief tornado touched down near Margaret, about 230 kilometres southwest of Winnipeg, at about 5:15 p.m.
A funnel cloud was spotted just north of Hartney at about 5 p.m.
Northeast of Glenboro around 6 p.m., there were reports of downed power poles and snapped trees.
There was a tornado that moved into Stockton at about 5:30 p.m., Environment Canada said. There was damage to property, but meteorologist John Paul Cragg said it could also be due to strong winds.
Morden, Winkler, Glenboro, Stockton reported heavy amounts of rain, Environment Canada said. People were sharing photos and videos of flooded streets online.
Winds also blew around trees and power lines in the province. The strongest was in Morden, where the wind was gusting to 111 km/h, Cragg said. The wind was up to 95 km/h in Winkler, where trees and silos were blown over.
There were reports of toonie-sized hail, Cragg said, and a lot of nickle-sized hail fell in Brandon earlier in the night for about two minutes.
