HOUSTON, TX — The National Weather Services confirmed that an EF-0 tornado touched down Monday morning near the Grand Parkway and Interstate 45 in Spring.
There were no homes in the area that reported damage from the tornado.
Severe weather and rain began moving through the Greater Houston area at about 5 a.m.
The first of several thunder storm warnings were issued at about 5:45 a.m., followed by tornado warnings issued at 6:45 through 9:30 a.m. for Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Waller Counties.
Witnesses reported a small funnel cloud and tornado touching down at about 8:45 a.m. west of I-45 along the Grand Parkway, but there were no damages.
Meanwhile, other communities in northwest Houston saw some wind damages from the storms, with some residents reporting damage to roofs and fences near the City of Jersey Village.
More rain is expected in the Houston area through Wednesday.
