The National Weather Service confirms two tornadoes touched down in a Garland County town Friday night.
An EF2 and EF1 tornado moved through Lonsdale, ripping up trees and causing damage throughout the town.
The EF1 tornado touched down near the end of Steele Road and was estimated to be 200 yards wide. It traveled about 1.9 miles and had peak wind speeds between 86 and 110 mph.
The EF2 tornado started near Gourdneck Valley Road. It knocked down trees then moved north into Saline County, where it damaged buildings. This tornado was estimated to be about 150 yards in width and traveled about 1.2 miles. Estimated peak wind speeds were between 111 and 135 mph.
This brings the total number of tornadoes in Arkansas to 17 so far this year. The state usually has an average of 33 tornadoes per year.
Another EF2 tornado caused injuries and destroyed homes near Cato around 11:20 p.m. Friday.
