Tornado Confirmed in Jones County Thursday Night

The storms that rolled through eastern Iowa last Thursday night produced a tornado in Jones County.

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down on the northwest edge of Olin around 11:15 pm.

The tornado was the weakest on the EF Scale at an EF-0. It was on the ground for a tenth of a mile, lasting less than two minutes. The tornado was about ten yards wide, with its winds peaking at 75 miles per hour.

No injuries were reported.

The tornado threw a metal shed about seventy feet and displaced a 150-pound fire hydrant about 15 to 20 feet from its original location.
