POYNETTE, Wis. – The National Weather Service has received reports of a tornado touching down in Columbia County Saturday.
According to the NWS, social media pictures and a damage report from the Sheriff’s Office indicate a brief, weak tornado was on the ground for about two minutes at around 5:20 p.m. near the intersection of Highway B and Dunning Road north of Poynette.
The NWS said the tornado was nearly stationary, and a survey shows no significant damage associated with the tornado.
Golf ball-sized hail and trees blown down near Portage were also reported.
Radar estimates show about three to five inches of rain fell between Portage and Poynette.
