WARSAW, Ind. (WANE) – An EF-1 tornado with wind speeds up to 90 mph touched down in Warsaw Monday night, the National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday.
No one was hurt in the tornado, which touched down at 8:27 p.m. a mile northeast of downtown Warsaw near Pike Lake and drove 4.1 miles east. The weather service said the tornado was on the ground for 7 minutes and lifted 5.2 miles east of Warsaw.
It left a path 50 yards wide at its max, and uprooted trees, snapped power poles and damaged several homes and cars, the weather service said.
The weather service said the tornado spun from the northern edge of a broader wind damage swath that stretched nearly 250 yards that rolled through the area Monday night.
