OZAUKEE COUNTY — The National Weather Service wrapped up their survey in Jackson Monday, Aug. 27 after Sunday night’s storms and saw no evidence of a tornado, despite a tornado warning issued Sunday for Ozaukee and Washington counties.
The FOX6 Weather Experts said damage was likely caused by 70 miles-per-hour thunderstorm wind gusts.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Ozaukee and Washington counties until 6:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 — but it was canceled early.
The storm left damage in its wake in Jackson in Washington County.
That’s where FOX6 News found chainsaws humming on Monday.
“Just started with the bull saw and clippers and started lopping everything off,” said Charles Meunier.
Meunier spent about three hours at his rental property, cutting up limbs from a tree he planted 49 years ago. He said he might have to cut the entire tree down.
“The weight is leaning towards the house, and you can see it’s starting to get distressed the way it is up there,” said Meunier.
FOX6 found tree limbs at the curb throughout Jackson. Patti Lennartz-Kaisler said she saw two cloud formations on Sunday.
“They were like this. They were just coming together. It was open and then it was going like this and going into its little funnel,” said Lennart-Kaisler.
But the NWS found no evidence of a tornado.
“It irritates the crap out of me, but what are you going to do,” said Lennart-Kaisler.
Besides the strong winds, the storms brought heavy rain and flooding. FOX6 found Shalom Road and Indian Lore Road in Farmington washed out.
