HANCOCK COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado formed in Hancock County on Saturday.
Reportedly the tornado touched down at 5:42p.m. about 3 miles south-southeast of Lewisport, Ky. The NWS says it stayed on the ground for about 12 minutes before residents witnessed the tornado lift off the ground and dissipate.
The NWS called it a “treetop-level tornado” with estimated wind speeds of about 75 to 80 miles per hour.
A majority of the damage was to trees, reportedly the tornado brought down some large branches and snapped some tree trunks.
They say the tornado did cause some minor roof damage.
There have been no reports of any injuries.
