The National Weather Service issued several tornado warnings for Horry County on Sunday, and residents spotted what appeared to be waterspouts and funnel clouds around Myrtle Beach.
In a tweet Sunday afternoon, WPDE forecaster Ed Piotrowski shared a video and noted: “A waterspout came ashore north of 21st avenue in Myrtle Beach and became a tornado.”
At 12:55 p.m. Sunday, “a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Allsbrook, or 11 miles northeast of Conway, moving north at 35 mph,” according to the National Weather Service.
Another severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was 2 miles southwest of Tabor City, North Carolina, the NWS reported.
Locations impacted by the warnings included Loris, Fair Bluff, Cherry Grove, Allsbrook, Green Sea, Cerro Gordo and Loris Community Hospital.
Horry County had a tornado watch until 5 p.m. Sunday.
No damage was reported from tornadoes as of Sunday afternoon.
