Severe thunderstorms left a trail of flash flooding on Twin Cities streets, while there has been at least one tornado reported in greater Minnesota.
Pictures and video show that numerous metro-area streets have experienced water pooling just in time for the evening rush-hour.
It comes after a sharp burst of extremely heavy rain that arrived in the Twin Cities just after 4 p.m., making its way slowly across the metro as commuters left work.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation posted video of flooding at the intersection of I-94 and West Broadway Avenue, which shows vehicles going through deep water as they cross the overpass.
Elsewhere there were reports of street flooding on West River Road, and on streets near Southwest High School.
The same storm brought a tornado that appeared to have touched down in southeastern Minnesota, with pictures and videos shared on social media showing the funnel cloud in the Ellendale and Blooming Prairie areas.
