Oct. 11, 2019—A Sioux Falls Meineke operator is working to bounce back after his shop was completely destroyed in a massive storm event.
In early September, three tornadoes with confirmed EF-2 strength touched down in the area of the city, causing widespread damage. News station KELO spoke to the Meineke operators, Doug and Kim Olson, about the hard road ahead.
“It was pretty tough,” Kim Olson told the station. “It’s hard to see almost 20 years of your life gone in 60 seconds.”
The damage to the shop amounted to a total loss, leaving a heap of debris and mess. But the Olson’s are largely feeling positive, as they’ve retained staff and are still able to pay them. The building was insured, and they hope to begin reconstruction this fall.
The Olson’s say that the shop will be back, no doubt.
