A tornado did touch down near the Mobile State Docks on Thursday.
That’s according to the National Weather Service office in Mobile, which sent out a storm survey team on Friday to look at damage from the storm.
The tornado, which touched down at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, was an EF0 with top winds of 55-65 mph, according to a preliminary report from the weather service.
It was a weak tornado and did very little damage, the weather service said Friday.
It was on the ground for 0.4 miles and was 25 yards wide at its peak.
It touched down near Threemile Creek and the Industrial Canal and lifted near the Mobile River two minutes later.
The tornado downed a small tree and a power pole along the banks of Threemile Creek. It also blew insulation out of an industrial building.
There were no injuries blamed on the storm.
