One tornado touched down on Sunday in north Alabama, according to the National Weather Service in Huntsville.
The weather service sent out a survey team to Cullman County and found damage consistent with an EF-1 tornado.
The tornado had estimated winds of 86 mph. It touched down at 5:38 a.m. Sunday southwest of the Fairview community and was on the ground for 2.12 miles.
It was 100 yards wide at its peak, according to the weather service.
The tornado snapped numerous trees along its path and destroyed a few farm outbuildings, the weather service said.
The survey team also looked at damage along Highway 69 just east-northeast of Fairview, the weather service said.
That damage was blamed on straight-line winds of up to 80 mph and not a tornado, the weather service said.
Saturday’s Cullman County tornado comes on the heels of Thursday’s round of severe weather. Eleven tornadoes have been confirmed so far by the weather service from that event. Those storms have been blamed for five deaths and several injuries.
