Three tornadoes have now been confirmed in Arkansas storms earlier this week, according to the National Weather Service.
An EF-1 twister with estimated winds between 85 and 90 mph traveled Sunday night for about 4.3 miles in Franklin County, the agency’s Tulsa office reported.
The weather service said the tornado touched down around 7:40 p.m. more than 3 miles south of Cecil, snapping large tree limbs and damaging a home.
Another EF-1 tornado developed less than an hour earlier on the north side of Huntington in Sebastian County, officials said.
That twister, which was on the ground for more than 5 miles, uprooted trees and destroyed a metal-framed structure, according to the weather service. Four chicken houses and some other buildings were also damaged. It had estimated winds between 85 and 95 mph.
In central Arkansas, an EF-1 tornado with estimated winds of 100 mph hit around 12:50 a.m. Monday near the Springhill community in Faulkner County.
There, extensive damage was reported along a 2.7-mile path at Needs Creek Missionary Baptist Church and to homes in an adjacent neighborhood.
Fifteen homes in Springhill sustained minor damage and five other structures were heavily damaged, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
One more survey Tuesday in Johnson County near Woodland determined that damage in that area was the result of straight-line winds reaching between 80 and 85 mph.
