BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – The National Weather Service says an EF-1 tornado hit Boyle County Tuesday night.
The estimated speeds are 90 mph, and a survey crew is working to determine the length and width of the tornado.
The tornado touched down approximately 5 miles southwest of Danville.
Crews also say straight-line winds caused some of the damage in the county as well.
Among the damage included a roof torn off a home and a barn ripped to pieces. People who live on Webster Road were monitoring the weather, as tornado-warned storms traveled across the county, including Joe Tamme, who WKYT found cleaning up damage the day after the storms hit. He was out until 3 a.m. securing his fences so cattle wouldn’t escape.
“It’s so muddy right now I can’t even begin to get out in the field to pick up this mess,” Tamme said.
Mike Wilder with the Boyle County Emergency Management Agency says as the storms came through, some people were staying at a shelter the county opened. He also said the people living in one home had gone to their basement when they heard their roof come off.
“I know the ceiling was caving in last night as these folks were leaving,” Wilder said.
The family will stay with relatives, as the home is not safe to live in at this time.
No one was injured as a result of the severe weather.
