MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The National Weather Service in Wilmington confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Myrtle Beach at 3:24 p.m. Friday.
According to a storm survey, a waterspout moved ashore near 72nd Ave. N and moved up the beach causing damage to beach umbrellas, chairs, and storage bins before dissipating near 75th Ave. N.
The tornado had winds of 75 mph with a path width of 25 yards as it traveled a little under a quarter of a mile up the coast. There were no deaths and no injuries.
A waterspout came ashore and became a tornado according to visitors who saw the entire scene play out from their resort balconies.
The entire event was over within minutes and witnesses say the tornado moved from 69th Avenue near the Caravelle Tower Resort north ending around Sand Dunes Resort and North Shore Hotel at 74th Avenue.
